The concept was to build a series of 12 television monitor surrounds to work as stand-alone interactive kiosks. We were hired by FN Tech, a northern California production company to provide scenic elements for the DC launch event of their client, Facebook.
The style guide for this event called for honey-colored reclaimed barn wood screen surrounds and, tri-fold clear acrylic backdrop festooned with corporate iconography with a proprietary red colored frame.
Milling, fabricating and staining reclaimed wood
Challenges included milling, fabricating and staining reclaimed wood to fit television monitors while integrating metal mounting brackets within.
Applied Vinyl Decals
And matching red color for the tri-fold via powder coated aluminum and applying vinyl decals in a specific array.
Audio and Video
The event would take place in a chic, cozy DC gallery. We would need, as always, to work closely with audio and video technicians in close quarters, and on a tight schedule. Quick and easy installation would need to be factored into the kiosk build.
There are a number of local sources for reclaimed wood. We planing and milling the rough lumber.
New Retro-Looking Bezel
We fashioned templates to insure each kiosk would snugly fit the exact edges of the specific monitors specified by the client, effectively making a new retro-looking bezel.
Barrel hinges were also deployed to install the tri-fold acrylic backdrop. A simple, effective solution often works for a variety of applications.
Wood Side Shelves
Adding a wood side shelf to the kiosks enabled the client to set up laptops and other electronics to run the interactive portion of the touchscreens, And it looked pretty cool too.
The Client was Overjoyed!
The client was blown away by the overall look, positive audience response and outstanding photo opportunities created by the scenic elements we brought to their event.
